My fiancé gave me a beautiful ring yesterday. He put it on my finger and asked if I was really sure I want to marry him . Then he said I will have a new name – Mrs. Garr. I felt so special, so loved, cared for, and protected. Wearing the ring is like having him place his seal of ownership on me. He has declared his love for me, placed his ‘seal’ on my finger, and now we wait eagerly for our wedding day.
This morning I read a familiar verse from the Message in Isaiah 43:1:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called you by name. You’re mine.”
God calls us to be His. He paid a much higher price for us than any man has paid for a ring- the life of His Son. Then He sends His Spirit to live in us as His seal until the day of our marriage to the Lamb!
Karin,
I am so very thankful to God for revealing to me that it is possible to have a marriage that honors Him! I went so long thinking that I would spend my life as a bachelor. When I first met you, it was so evident that Jesus was living in you and guiding you with His righteous right hand. I had no idea that we would be married some day, but I did realize that if I ever married, I would be to a lady like you! Karin, I am in love with you and who you are in our Lord Jesus Christ! Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
