Abba

“‘“Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.’ So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the Lord had commanded him to speak. The people all responded together, ‘We will do everything the Lord has said.’ So Moses brought their answer back to the Lord.” Exodus‬ ‭19‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This was spoken to the Israelites. Romans 11:17 says that Gentile believers have been grafted in. Paul has also said that when we come to God in repentance and surrender, we are adopted into God’s family. The promise of being a treasure is ours.

Do we consider that? God chose us. We are His treasure. Do we live like we believe that?
What was the response of the people? Do we have the same answer for Jesus- ‘we will do what You say’ because we have become a holy people of God?

Today we should pray that God will remind us who we are in Him. Then we should thank Him for choosing us, treasuring us, and making us holy like Him.

“But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.’” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’” Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬
