“But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble.” Proverbs 4:18-19 NKJV
We often see contrasts in Hebrew poetry. We can see this in life. Follow Jesus and His Life will shine in us. Walk away from Jesus and it’s easy for one’s life to spiral out of control into darkness.
Jesus tried to teach His followers. He did it in parables, with signs and wonders, healing people as He went.
“So He said to them, ‘How is it you do not understand?’” Mark 8:21 NKJV
Can you hear the sadness in His voice? They had the Torah, they walked with the Son of God Himself. But they were still learning. They had not yet seen what we have read about. They didn’t know that He was the Sacrifice Lamb Who had come to redeem us and give us new life. They didn’t know that He would rise from the dead, conquering sin and death. Unlike believers now, they had not yet received the Holy Spirit, Who is given to us as an advocate and teacher.
Today we should thank God that when we come to Him in repentance, He does give us the Holy Spirit. We can pray for teachable hearts and minds, to be receptive of what God has for us today.
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalms 34:8 NKJV
