“Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him; All nations shall serve Him. For He will deliver the needy when he cries, The poor also, and him who has no helper. He will spare the poor and needy, And will save the souls of the needy. He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; And precious shall be their blood in His sight.” Psalms 72:11-14 NKJV
Long before Jesus was born, He was anticipated. And then He did arrive and walk among us. He fed the poor, healed the sick. He died, then rose again to save our souls. Then He sent us, filled with His Spirit and authority.
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’” Matthew 28:18 ESV
Do we believe this? Do we pray like we believe it? What difficult things are you going through that need to be brought to our Father?
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” Matthew 18:19 NKJV
We all have stuff. Or know someone. Sickness, loss of job, loss of loved ones, life gives and takes away. Today we should bring our things to Jesus. No matter how big or small, He invites us to pray in faith.
As we pray, we should have the attitude Paul had when he wrote this from an ancient Roman prison:
“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” Philippians 3:8-11 ESV
