“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.” II Thessalonians 2:16-17 NKJV
Look at these gifts from God- love, consolation, hope, grace, and comfort. I read this morning about Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob, and Esau all trying to manipulate their desires for what they wanted from God. Their history begins in Genesis 27, showing their deceit to get their way.
Do we do the same? We have God’s gifts. We have His promises, but are we content to wait on Him for the fulfillment?
“He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me.” Psalms 18:19 NKJV
Today we should pray for contentment to wait on God through the process. When we surrender to God in repentance, He gives us the greatest gift ever- forgiveness and eternal life with Him! Anything else is extra!
“My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commands; for they will bring you many days, a full life, and well-being.” Proverbs 3:1-2 HCSB
