“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Listen carefully, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will call his name Immanuel (God with us).” Isaiah 7:14 AMP
God with us. Today can we just think of what that means? There was that one instance in history when all of history changed. The Creator of time stepped into it.
“All this happened in order to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet [Isaiah]: ‘Behold, the virgin shall be with child and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel’—which, when translated, means, ‘God with us.’” Matthew 1:22-23 AMP
The mathematical probability of all the prophesies of Jesus being fulfilled in this one baby is astronomical. And yet “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” Galatians 4:4-5 ESV
It happened. And now, God with us.
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 ESV
How can this be?! Jesus, once a baby, now our risen reigning King, invites us into His family. Today we should pray that this reality will sink in. When we accept and receive God’s precious gift of salvation through our belief and repentance, we are sons and daughters of the King Who is above all kings and loves us! Rejoice!
“And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’ So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.” Galatians 4:6-7 ESV
