Humble or Haughty

“If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Why did I stumble across this verse just before Thanksgiving? Food, water, turkey…for enemies? Do I have enemies?

“For You rescue an afflicted people, but You humble those with haughty eyes.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭27‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Then I come across this verse in Psalms. I’m seeing a pattern. The heart- where is my heart?

One of the questions I want to discuss at our Christmas party (December 14- you’re invited!) is how was Jesus able to do this:

“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Think of it! These was a time when the Father looked at His Son and said that it was time. Time to leave the glory of Heaven for our squalid earth. Time to rescue a people who hate You. Time to die a cruel death so those who screamed obscenities at You and nailed You to that cross may find life in You. That those who deny Your very existence may find peace in You.

Today may we bow in humble thankfulness to our God Who lives and reigns above all!

“The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted.” Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭46‬ ‭NKJV
