“‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’” Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
Who needs these words of invitation and promise? Probably all of us! Life often gets wearisome. We all have different challenges. We need to step back and have that alone time with our Father. To know His presence, His love and mercy.
We also need fellowship. For growth and encouragement.
“He gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. His purpose was to equip God’s people for the work of serving and building up the body of Christ until we all reach the unity of faith and knowledge of God’s Son. God’s goal is for us to become mature adults—to be fully grown, measured by the standard of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-13 CEB
Today we should pray that God will use both our alone times with Him and fellowship times with true believers to grow us into mature followers of Jesus.
“But the Lord sits enthroned forever; He has established His throne for judgment. He judges the world with righteousness; He executes judgment on the nations with fairness. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know Your name trust in You because You have not abandoned those who seek You, Yahweh. Sing to the Lord, who dwells in Zion; proclaim His deeds among the nations.” Psalms 9:7-11 HCSB
