“I am weary from my groaning; with my tears I dampen my pillow and drench my bed every night. My eyes are swollen from grief; they grow old because of all my enemies. (…) The Lord has heard my plea for help; the Lord accepts my prayer.” Psalms 6:6-7, 9 HCSB
God answers prayers. But. We still live in this broken world. We still go through stuff. Sometimes it’s just that- the broken world we live in. Sometimes it’s God’s judgement.
“I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their transgressions and hid my face from them.
So the LORD God proclaims: Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob. I will have compassion on the whole house of Israel and defend my holy name. (…)
When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, I will be made holy through them in the sight of the many nations.” Ezekiel 39:24-25, 27 CEB
We see in God’s character His righteousness and His compassion. His is an ‘upside down’ kingdom. We surrender to Jesus because He loves us. Because He is Holy. Because He is God and the King above all.
“Everyone will hate you on account of my name. But whoever stands firm until the end will be saved. (…)
Don’t be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows. (…)
Those who find their lives will lose them, and those who lose their lives because of me will find them.” Matthew 10:22, 31, 39 CEB
Today we should pray that no matter what we go through, we will stand firm in Jesus.
“So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.” Ephesians 3:13 ESV
“I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.” Psalms 7:17 NIV
