“Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.” Psalms 33:1 NIV
Why should we be joyful? For one thing, because it’s the right thing to do! He is God- He knows us and loves us!
“Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.” Psalms 33:3-5 NIV
Again the word joy. Don’t you love the emotions David exhibits in the Psalms? Here he explains- God is right, true, faithful, just, and love.
We can’t always live on the fresh, beautiful mountaintops. But we can gather our stories of God’s love and faithfulness to us. Remembering God’s love for us, the new identity He gives us in Him, and how He helps us through the difficult valleys.
Today we should pray that whether we’re on a mountain, in a valley, or even in a dry desert, we will keep our eyes on Jesus, the Lover of our souls.
“But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.” Psalms 33:18-22 NIV
