“The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;” Psalms 19:8 NKJV
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!
And now we shift gears. Yesterday is now an added memory and we look to the next holiday already. In the midst of the celebrations and scurrying to keep up and survive, where is God our lives and thoughts?
We go from a day set aside to give thanks to a day to celebrate Jesus birth.
How does the reality of His birth change us?
“Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Philippians 2:14-16 NKJV
Do we shine as lights? Do we hold fast the word of life? (What does that even mean?)
Paul sat in an ancient Roman prison cell and penned these words to people he had discipled. Were they growing in Jesus? That was his concern. That they stand out more and more, separate from the world’s culture. Walking in obedience to God’s Word.
“Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.” Philippians 2:17-18 NKJV
Today, we should not stop giving thanks. We can pray that we will shine as lights in this dark world, showing the way to Jesus, our Savior. We can pray that He will help us to walk in obedience to the Father.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalms 19:14 NKJV
