New

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The world watches the turn of time, the coming of a new year.

I’ve tried my own list of New Year’s resolutions. This year I want to hang on to this verse. Taking every thought captive. Every thought.
I’ve heard about studies showing how we can create new pathways in our brains. Old thoughts out, news thoughts in. Every thought.

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The good news is that if we have repented and surrendered our lives to Jesus, He washes us clean and makes us new.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We don’t even have to wait until tomorrow! Today we should pray that God will give us strength to live our new lives in Jesus.

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬
