“In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.” Luke 2:1 ESV
Is there much of a difference between those days and these days? A bit, yes. Where I live, we have indoor plumbing and electricity. We can travel by powerful vehicles on land, sea, and in the air.
But some problems remain the same. Rulers telling people what to do. Evil society. Violence. Sin is still sin.
Then Jesus entered our world. One of His names is Prince of Peace. He wasn’t understood at the time, even by His disciples, until He conquered sin and death itself.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 ESV
With all the promises found in His Word, we can trust the One Who has fulfilled them. Whatever we face today, we can bring everything to Jesus. Today we should pray that Jesus, Prince of Peace, will rule in our hearts as we surrender our thoughts, our cares, our everything to Him.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 ESV
