Purpose

“Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, ‘My child, your sins are forgiven.’  (…) ‘So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.’ Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!’” Mark 2:5, 10-11 NLT

Why did Jesus come to earth? This passage seems to tell us- to take care of the sin problem and to heal, to restore. He did both. And now He’s tasked believers in Him with taking this good news to the world around us. Can we begin with lifting each other up?

“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT

Then we will be able to share the hope that we have in Jesus.

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.” Jeremiah 17:7 NLT

Today we should pray for God to renew our hope in Him. We can trust Him to lead us to encourage those who need it. Let’s pray that we will carry these promises of love to our broken world in need of restoration.

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 NLT
