Ready

“A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.” Proverbs 27:12 NLT

Yes, so, we choose God. That was fairly easy. But, are there smaller, more personal choices that are more difficult to turn away from or ignore? Are they just as dangerous?  Now that we have decided to follow Jesus (no turning back), how does that play out in our every day lives?

“You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.” Matthew 24:44 NLT

How do we get ready? Stay ready?
Choices. Daily, or even moment by moment. We choose the right thing. The better (or best!) thing. And when we realize we haven’t, we turn around and go the other way.

“Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” Psalms 25:4-5 NLT

Life can be hard. We are not always allowed the comfort our minds and bodies crave. But we’re not home yet. So we decide- follow Jesus. Then we trust- He is good and He loves us. Moment by moment little steps of trust that turn our eyes on Him and eventually put smiles of gratitude in our faces.

“The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.” Psalms 25:8-10 NLT

Today we should pray that we will, each moment, remind ourselves that we can and should trust our God Who loves us.
