Response

“For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation.” Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭49‬-‭50‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This was part of Mary’s apparent quick response to the angel who told her she was chosen to give birth to the long-awaited Messiah. She readily gave glory to God. At what point did she realize the pain that would come when He was nailed to the cross? Or the glory when He was taken back to Heaven after His resurrection?
She just knew that at this moment she was being told that somehow she was to carry the Messiah.
Then we see the disciples, many years later. Jesus told them plainly what was going to happen.

“Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, ‘Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.’” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭20‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

By their reaction to the crucifixion and resurrection when they actually happened, these words of Jesus must have gone right over their heads. They couldn’t comprehend that God’s thoughts and plans really are so much higher than ours.

Today we should pray that we will fix our minds and hearts on Jesus. We should pray that we will follow His direction and leading in every area of our lives. This is the way to walk in His peace!

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
