“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. (…) Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.’” Matthew 25:34, 41 NLT
What a contrast we see here! What joy to hear the words of welcome, what dread to hear the latter.
“I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments.” Colossians 2:4 NLT
Paul gives this warning. He knows how easily we can be deceived. How can we guard ourselves? What is God looking for?
“What can we bring to the Lord? Should we bring him burnt offerings? Should we bow before God Most High with offerings of yearling calves? Should we offer him thousands of rams and ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Should we sacrifice our firstborn children to pay for our sins? No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:6-8 NLT
Do the right thing. Be merciful. Surrender to God with humble hearts. Today we should pray that God will position us to seek His face and live each moment for Him.
“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:13 NLT
