STATEMENT OF FAITH
‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.’ John 1:1
‘For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.’ Hebrews 4:12
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the true Word of God. It consists of the Old and New Testaments and is without error. It is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the final and eternal authority in our lives. The Bible is our source for “teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16).
The Trinity
We believe in the three persons of the Trinity: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Father is the Creator of all things. Jesus is the Son who has always been with the Father, came down to earth to pay the penalty for our sins, and rose from the dead. We believe He is coming again. God the Holy Spirit is the One who comes to live in us and empower us to live a life worthy of His calling.
Sin
We believe that man was created in God’s image. Genesis 1:27 says that “God created mankind in His own image” but God also gave man a choice. In choosing to disobey God, mankind inherited a sin nature. Jeremiah 17:9 says “The heart is deceitful above all things and it is exceedingly corrupt.” Because of this sin nature, the punishment for our sin is death. Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Salvation
The Word of God declares clearly that salvation is a free gift of God, based on the merits of the death of His Son, and is appropriated by faith. Salvation is effected by personal repentance (a turning away from sin), belief in the Lord Jesus, and personal acceptance of Him into one’s life as Savior and Lord. Salvation should produce an active lifestyle of loving obedience and service to Jesus Christ our Savior.
Our identity as a child of God
We believe that once a person has received God’s gift of salvation by repenting of their sin and accepting Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for our punishment, we are born into God’s family. 1 John 3:1 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
