“May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 3:5 ESV
What a prayer- that God will direct our hearts to His love and His steadfastness. Jesus spent 3 years on earth demonstrating His love in various ways. He delivered this man from demons:
“And he did not permit him but said to him, ‘Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.’ And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.” Mark 5:19-20 ESV
With such a glorious change in his life, how could this man remain silent? And then there was Jairus, whose daughter Jesus brought back from the dead:
“And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. And he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat.” Mark 5:42-43 ESV
There’s an old song by Don Francisco that recounts Jairus’ story, ending with ‘I’ve got to tell somebody!’ Can we really think that Jairus never told anyone how his daughter regained her life?
What has God done for us? Today we should pray for boldness to tell somebody!
“All you who are righteous, shout joyfully to the LORD! It’s right for those who do right to praise God. (…) Because the LORD’s word is right, his every act is done in good faith. He loves righteousness and justice; the LORD’s faithful love fills the whole earth. (…) All the earth honors the LORD; all the earth’s inhabitants stand in awe of him. Because when he spoke, it happened! When he commanded, there it was!” Psalms 33:1, 4-5, 8-9 CEB
