“But I will see Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied with Your presence.” Psalms 17:15 HCSB
Am I the only one who gets distracted- the small ‘computers’ we hold in our hands, the news of the day, things going on in our own households. There’s always something! My desire is to be satisfied with God’s presence, not just when I wake up but all day! Time to put on the helmet to take my thoughts captive! “Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word.” Ephesians 6:17 HCSB
God’s Word – our weapon! Here’s how God used it for me this morning:
“When Jesus heard about it, He withdrew from there by boat to a remote place to be alone. When the crowds heard this, they followed Him on foot from the towns.” Matthew 14:13 HCSB *Jesus went to spend time with His Father but people distracted Him.
“As He stepped ashore, He saw a huge crowd, felt compassion for them, and healed their sick.” Matthew 14:14 HCSB *He had compassion on them.
“‘They don’t need to go away,’ Jesus told them. ‘You give them something to eat.’” Matthew 14:16 HCSB *Jesus gave His disciples an assignment.
“‘Bring them here to Me,’ He said.” Matthew 14:18 HCSB *Jesus knew that He could use what little they had – some bread and fish.
“(…) He took the five loaves and the two fish, and (…) He blessed them. He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.” Matthew 14:19 HCSB *Jesus thanked His Father, then broke the offering. Ouch! He can use US when we have been broken. Then He can multiply the blessing!
“Everyone ate and was filled. Then they picked up 12 baskets full of leftover pieces!” Matthew 14:20 HCSB
Today we should pray that as we spend time with Jesus, He will use us and what we have to offer Him to multiply His love, His peace, all that He is, to the broken world around us.
Ladies, don’t forget to join us for our monthly gathering November 9 and/or the retreat November 10.
