“‘If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.’” Daniel 3:17-18 NIV
We know the story. We know how it ends. They didn’t. How did they do it? Would we be able to do what they did? These 3 men, rather than bow down to anyone other than the One True God, were thrown into a blazing hot furnace. How tenacious is our faith in God?
“He said, ‘Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.’” Daniel 3:25 NIV
Sometimes God allows us to go through things, sometimes there’s an escape. In this case, God showed up and stood with them in the fire.
Today we should pray that God will help us to boldly declare that our God reigns over all the earth. He loves us with an everlasting love and promised He would never leave us once we surrender our lives to Him. Someone needs to hear our story about what God has done for us!
“Then Nebuchadnezzar said, ‘Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.’” Daniel 3:28 NIV
