“Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness. The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.” Psalm 29:1-4 ESV
Sometimes we trivialize God. We see Him as a friend. That’s good- He is! But He is also God. Creator of all, King above all kings! Worthy of all honor and praise and glory!
“Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” Colossians 1:22 NLT
Another thing we so easily trivialize is what Jesus did to ransom us. We were lost, without hope or forgiveness. Then Jesus laid His crown down to become like one of us. He lived with us, then died a death so cruel so that we would be spared the agony of trying (in vain) to take our own punishment of eternal separation from the Father.
Today is a brand new day. We should pray for a renewed excitement, joy, and thankfulness for Who God is and how He loves us.
“The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!” Psalm 29:10-11 ESV
