“But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.” Psalms 33:18-19 NIV
These verses should lead us to two questions. Do we fear God, and is our hope in Him? This fear is more like having reverence for, rather than being afraid. So, do we reverence God? Do we trust Him? Is our hope so much in Him that we can trust Him even in the most dire situations?
Sometimes we forget that we serve the God of the impossible. The one true God, who loves us. Once we have repented and surrendered to His will, He wants to use us to spread the good news of salvation, hope, love, acceptance, joy, peace, and so much more in Him.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NIV
How can God use us? With what we already have! Moses had a staff. God used Moses and His staff to lead the Israelites out of bondage into freedom in the promised land.
“Then the Lord said to him, ‘What is that in your hand?’ ‘A staff,’ he replied.” Exodus 4:2 NIV
Today we should pray that God will show us what we have and how He can use us to increase our own reverence for Him, our hope in Him, and then share that with others around us. Maybe it starts with sharing a meal. God is able to multiply whatever we offer to Him!
“‘How many loaves do you have?’ Jesus asked. ‘Seven,’ they replied. (…) The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.” Mark 8:5, 8 NIV
