“Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7  NKJV

Several verses in Proverbs speak of the value in godly wisdom and understanding. How we need that today! I found it interesting to read a few different versions of this verse.

“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 NIV

How to start with wisdom? Just get it! No matter what the cost, just get it!

“The beginning of wisdom is: Get [skillful and godly] wisdom [it is preeminent]! And with all your acquiring, get understanding [actively seek spiritual discernment, mature comprehension, and logical interpretation]. [James 1:5]” Proverbs 4:7 AMP

In today’s world, where it’s easy to assume we are right about everything, we should pray for godly wisdom and discernment. We begin our search by knowing God and His Word.

“For ‘who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.” I Corinthians 2:16 NKJV

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 NKJV
