“The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai:” ‭‭Jonah‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

What do we do when we hear or sense God speaking to us? Jonah did not respond well.  After a time-out in the belly of a whale for 3 days, God gave him another chance.

“Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:” Jonah‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

This time Jonah obeyed and God sent revival.

“The men of Nineveh believed in God. They proclaimed a fast and dressed in sackcloth — from the greatest of them to the least. Who knows? God may turn and relent; He may turn from His burning anger so that we will not perish. Then God saw their actions — that they had turned from their evil ways — so God relented from the disaster He had threatened to do to them. And He did not do it.” Jonah‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬, ‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

What does God want to do with our obedience to Him? Today, we should pray that we would follow Paul’s example, not Jonah’s! We should pray that we will be ready to be used by God for the purposes He has for us.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Who should I send? Who will go for Us? I said: Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“We proclaim Him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. I labor for this, striving with His strength that works powerfully in me.” Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭28‬-‭29‬ ‭HCSB
