“‘So you will be my people, and I will be your God.’ See, the storm of the Lord will burst out in wrath, a driving wind swirling down on the heads of the wicked. The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back until he fully accomplishes the purposes of his heart. In days to come you will understand this.” Jeremiah 30:22-24 NIV
Everyone wants to belong. God wants us to belong to Him! Because He loves us. He protects us.
This chapter in Jeremiah talks about God rescuing the captive people of ancient Israel and restoring their land to them. Loving restoration is the theme of God’s Word to us. We, as individuals, needed to be restored to God’s original purpose for us: to have a relationship with Him.
Nations and governments need to be restored as well. Throughout history God has raised up and taken down nations. He can do it again! As we continue to watch people and our nation embracing lawlessness and evil, may we not pray for revival? Individuals turning back to the God Who loves them.
We know that eventually Jesus will come again. We know there will be a tribulation period. But just maybe there are more people living right now that He wants to save. Just maybe He wants to change our nation and many others. Just maybe He wants His kingdom to come and His will to be done here on earth as it is in heaven for a little while longer. May God breathe life into our thirsty souls.
“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’” Matthew 6:9-10 NIV
